Barefoot in the park
Barefoot in the Park
American comedy, 102 minutes, 1967
Broadway comedy master Neil Simon adapted his hit play about a young conservative lawyer and his eccentric bride into this classic film. Robert Redford is straightforwardness itself. And Jane Fonda is his new wife, who dedicates her life to the pursuit of pleasure. As the ecstasy of the honeymoon gives way to the reality of making a home in a five-story house without an elevator, the harmony of marriage turns into comical bickering. The mother-in-law complains piously. The middle-aged womanizer who lives upstairs flirts. Pleasure will turn into pain. There is no doubt that by the end of the film, the young people will be reconciled and kiss, and there is no question that the mother and the neighbor will find each other.
